Fragments of the Whole

Everything is one, and yet everything breaks apart. Each fragment carries within it the echo of the whole—a shard of essence, a vibration of the greater unity. In art, as in life, we are made of these splinters: memories, emotions, broken forms that come together to sketch a deeper truth.

The invisible connects these pieces, weaving links between the tangible and the intangible, between what came before and what follows. Each fragment tells a story—an instant torn from eternity, a reflection of the world seen through the prism of time and matter.

Perhaps to understand the whole is to learn to read within its fractures.

The Galerie C. Mainguy was pleased to present Scrolls in Fragments, a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Svetlana Arefiev in April 2025. This show invited viewers into an immersive journey through the artist’s signature works on paper scrolls—symbols of continuity, memory, and transformation.

This exhibition marked a continuation of Svetlana’s research into the boundaries between painting and installation, intimacy and vastness, tradition and experimentation.
